Job Description
THIS JOB DESCRIPTION DOES NOT ATTEMPT TO LIST ALL OF THE DUTIES THAT ARE OR MAY BE PERFORMED IN THIS POSITION Primary Duties 1.Guides and oversees the programming, configuration, and optimization of Operational Technology instrumentation & control devices. Establishes system requirements and recommends enhancements to ensure optimum operating efficiency after analyzing performance data and identifying trends. Investigates root causes and develops remediation strategies in response to system, process, and equipment failures. 2.Designs and enhances the SCADA Human Machine Interface (HMI) control logic and display screens to make the system more operator-friendly and effective. Manages HMI patches and upgrades. Ensures the integrity and accessibility of real-time and historical databases and graphical user interfaces. 3.Performs all aspects of system and network administration associated with the Operational Technology infrastructure. Configure, test, and commission networks including but not limited to routers, firewalls, network switches, end devices, and cable/wireless communication systems. 4.Deploys, integrates, and configures security solutions and enhancements to existing Operational Technology systems in accordance with cyber security standards and recognized best practices. Participates in the design and execution of risk mitigation efforts resulting from vulnerability assessments and audits. 5.Provides subject matter expertise related to programming and troubleshooting PLCs and RTUs to ensure proper operation and interaction with the Operational Technology systems. This includes researching and selecting instrumentation, developing and updating schematics and diagrams, and establishing control strategies. 6.Schedules and oversees preventive maintenance of Operational Technology systems and equipment. Ensures functionality of back up and recovery systems to minimize downtime in the event of a primary system failure. 7.Performs system integration studies and designs optimal communication system interfaces and protocols between primary and peripheral devices and systems. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS EDUCATIONAL/EXPERIENCE LEVEL: 1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Computer Engineering or a closely related field and four years of progressively responsible professional experience in computer programming and operating systems analysis; or equivalent. COMMUNICATION SKILLS: Requires the ability to communicate with internal and/or external customers in order to obtain and/or provide explanations and/or information on technical concepts to individuals with experience or knowledge of the technical area. NUMERIC SKILLS: Requires the ability to perform algebraic, trigonometric and geometric operations and/or moderately complex statistical and/or accounting methods. COMPUTER SKILLS: Requires advanced knowledge of various software applications to create complex documents, reports and graphics. WORK CONDITIONS: Works in an office environment, occasionally outdoors. Requires occasionally performing activities including, but not limited to, bending, stooping, grasping, reaching, twisting, turning and/or lifting. Must be able to accurately differentiate wiring and other system components by color. Other Requirements As a Safety-Sensitive position, pre and post employment screenings, including but not limited to drug testing as outlined by the Department of Transportation (DOT) and Pipeline & Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA), and motor vehicle record (MVR) background checks are required.
